The latest issue of the popular Japanese hobby magazine, Figure King, had just been released recently! Hot Toys’ Darth Vader and Stormtroopers collectible figures were featured in the cover story along with a number of other collectible figures from the epic Star Wars saga.

The cover story also included an interview with Hot Toys Founder & CEO Mr. Howard Chan to talk about the Star Wars Sapien exhibition happening right now in Tokyo as a fan gathering event and prelude for the new Star Wars movie this December, his expectations for Star Wars: The Force Awaken, and Hot Toys’ future plans for the Star Wars!

Q: Many of Hot Toys fans knew that Howard yourself is a super Star Wars fan, can you share with us your most favorite Star Wars collectible item?

Howard: Among all Star Wars collectible items I have, Hot Toys’ DX 1/6th scale Luke Skywalker (Bespin Outfit) is my favorite! It is because I have managed to create very fine details of the character and captured the expression of Luke almost perfectly. I liked the character since I was very young. I own a 3” Luke Skywalker figure in my early stage of toy collection and it has been with me for many years.

Q: Hot Toys starts to produce highly movie accurate 1/4th and 1/6th scale Star Wars collectible figures, which one is your most satisfying Star Wars figure? Why?

Howard: I consider Chewbacca is my most satisfying figure. You know many of the Chewbacca figures in the market would only paint or craft the hair onto the body without any soft fur on it. Hot Toys is the first company to create the 1/6th scale Chewbacca collectible figure with brown fabric hair throughout whole body that captures his unique appearance. We are so proud that we have created this ‘outfit’ for Chewbacca, not only the fabric hair has to be hand knitted, the cutting also fits perfectly to Chewbacca’s body. I would like to let Figure King’s readers to know Chewbacca is so far my most satisfying figure produced by Hot Toys, yet if you ask me again next year I might have a new answer.

Q: What is your expectation for Star Wars Sapiens? What do you think Star Wars fans in Japan will react to this event?

Howard: I truly think the event is a prelude to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! As the last Star Wars movie was released a decade ago, this Star Wars Sapiens event will act as a Star Wars “recall” and give all fans an opportunity to reunite. You know I was super excited after watching the trailer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I believe all of the Star Wars fans in Japan and all over the world are ready to welcome a new episode!

Q: Is there any special edition Star Wars figure release during Star Wars Sapiens?

Howard: Yes, the 1/6th scale Spacetrooper collectible figure will be introduced during Star Wars Sapiens.

Q: Can you give us some insight about Hot Toys Star Wars series release in 2015?

Howard: Star Wars fans in Japan shall see the new Hot Toys collectible figures from Star Wars: The Force Awakens this year, I promise!

Q: Last question, can you share with us your expectation from Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Howard: I am very happy to know the original cast will return for this movie. I truly think it is a big deal to the fans because in our hearts, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. They will bring back the original feelings of Star Wars and I am looking forward to the movie release. I am also excited to start working on the projects of the upcoming movie and I know it will be a remarkable journey.
